The Law and Technology Committee (earlier called the Computers and Law Society) is one of the organizations of the Student
Bar Association at the National Law School. The Committee aims to promote the understanding of the interface between law and
technology. The Committee facilitates interaction between professionals, faculty, and law students by conducting a regular
series of lectures about contemporary technology law issues. In addition to being responsible for the National Law School
website, the Committee also maintains a community notice board at the Law School to better enable the understanding of
technology law-related issues.
The Committee also organizes Consilience, an annual conference on current technology law issues. The primary endeavour of the
conference is to address the needs and concerns of the industry. Themes at earlier conferences have included the role of law
in the knowledge economy, intellectual property rights and the Internet, biotechnology, and legal issues arising from
outsourcing and free / open source software this year.
The Committee also manages and publishes the Indian Journal of Law and Technology (IJLT) in collaboration with the Editorial
Board. The IJLT seeks to further the understanding of technology law-related issues through rigorous and dedicated
scholarship from the legal, business, and public policy communities.
